Mental Health Book Group (MR4)

Wednesday, June 216:00—7:30 PMSmall Meeting RoomBurlington Public Library22 Sears Street, Burlington, MA, 01803

Burlington Public Schools in partnership with the Burlington Breakfast Rotary and the Burlington Public Library is hosting a community book group series on mental health. Over the next three sessions, we will be discussing three titles (listed below).  A limited number of each book will be available at the Library's Circulation Desk.  Readers are invited to attend any number of book groups they'd like to; the group meets on April 19th, May 24th and June 14th.

This month we will be discussing My Living Will by John Trautwein.  This is the story of former major league pitcher John Trautwein and the unbelievable tragedy which befell him and his family when his fifteen-year-old-son, Will, took his own life.  There had been no warnings, no obvious signs of anxiety, depression or unhappiness.  A family and a community were left stunned as they pondered how a young man like Will--a healthy, happy and popular teenager who came from a loving home--could lose the will to live.

Material and topics shared within these books are sensitive in nature and can be triggering.  If you or anyone you know is in need of immediate mental health support please reach out to the Suicide and Crisis Helpline at 988 or the Massachusetts Behavioral Health Help Line at 833-773-2445.
